Best care for all cases

At FRONTIER, we offer small animal medicine at the highest professional and technical level – with love and respect for our patients. We have state-of-the-art equipment and a team of highly qualified and internationally recognized specialists from various fields on board. Our competences at a glance:

Anesthesia

Each patient admitted to our facility receives a thorough clinical examination by a specialized anesthesiologist in consultation with the attending veterinarian. The anesthetic plan is tailored to each animal and includes the provision of multimodal analgesics and advanced techniques, including ultrasound-guided locoregional anesthesia and (in)direct arterial blood pressure monitoring. All patients are continuously monitored during anesthesia and recovery by a member of the anesthesia team under the supervision of a specialized anesthesiologist.

Cardiology

Through our veterinary cardiology service, we can offer (early) detection and management of heart diseases, including congential heart conditions, in your pet, helping to improve their quality of life. We use a range of diagnostic tools such as electrocardiography, echocardiography, radiography, computertomography and blood tests to evaluate heart function and identify cardiac conditions. Once a diagnosis is made, treatment options may include medication, dietary changes, lifestyle modifications, and in some cases surgical interventions.

Endoscopy

Nowadays, Endoscopy is routinely performed in veterinary patients and allows for minimally invasive examination and biopsy of areas such as the bowel and nose using a rigid or flexible camera. Interventional endoscopy (IE) uses advanced endoscopic techniques to perform minimally invasive therapeutic procedures – as an alternative to surgery or for patients for whom surgery is generally not an option.

Internal Medicine

The areas of expertise of our internal medicine specialists are diverse. Our internal medicine specialists provide examination, diagnosis and treatment for a range of medical conditions, including gastroenterology, respiratory medicine, endocrinology, hyperthyroidism, infectious diseases, oncology, immune-mediated diseases and more. Our in-house fully equipped laboratory, as well as imaging and endoscopy, assist in this process.

Interventional Surgery

Thanks to our state-of-the-art fluoroscopy equipment, we can offer interventional radiology for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons. X-rays taken during surgery serve as guideposts that allow instruments such as catheters and guidewires to be passed through the body to the desired areas. This includes stents for tracheal collapse and urinary tract obstructions. Additionally, we offer entirely new forms of treatment such as chemoembolization for cancer.

Medical Oncology

Unfortunately, nowadays more and more dogs and cats are diagnosed with tumors. However, treatment methods have improved significantly. Together with our team of specialists in oncology, radiology, and surgery as well as our laboratory, we enable a holistic treatment plan – without losing sight of your pet’s quality of life.

Minimally invasive surgery

Wherever possible, we perform surgery minimally invasively (using the keyhole technique) to minimize pain for our patients and to bring about a rapid recovery. For this purpose, our experienced surgical team has access to state-of-the-art equipment such as lasers, vascular sealing devices, as well as a fully equipped endoscopy tower and endoscopic devices. This modern type of surgery is particularly gentle on the tissue and very efficient.

Neurology an Neurosurgery

Your pet’s neurological examination is the foundation for diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders. Our neurology team examines reflexes, consciousness, gait, postural reactions, and cranial nerve function. Based on this, the disease is assigned to the brain, spinal cord or peripheral nervous system and possible causes of disease are determined. In addition, we provide surgical treatment and afterwards important rehab for our neurological patients.

Oncological Surgery

Surgery is the only treatment who cures more animals with cancer than any other treatment and offers new hope for pets with cancer. Complete removal of the tumor promises the best treatment success. Our highly experienced team of surgeons is proficient in all applied surgical techniques of modern tumor surgery.

In the context of modern oncology, interdisciplinary cooperation with other specialties such as on-site internal medicine and medical oncology as well as external radiotherapy is of great importance.

Orthopedics

Our orthopedists treat a variety of orthopedic problems of dogs and cats, including lameness and trauma. Orthopedic surgery requires a very high level of sterile technique to minimize the risk of post-operative infection. Our four operating rooms are equipped to the highest standards, allowing our surgeons to offer their patients the best chance of a good outcome. Furthermore, we offer the option of post-operative rehab through our in-house physio team.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is closely linked to orthopedics and neurology and supports the treatment in many other cases. This conservative and very effective form of therapy is frequently used for both postoperative rehabilitation as well as pain management. We treat in- and outpatients. Of course, a direct referral to our physio team is also possible.

Radiology

Thanks to the professional expertise of our highly specialized on-site radiology team and state-of-the-art equipment, we are able to provide the best and fastest possible imaging diagnostics. This includes a 1.5T high-frequency MRI, 64 line CT, digital X-ray, 2 ultrasound machines and fluoroscopy (screening).

Pain therapy

Pain therapy includes all methods to relieve your pet’s pain. This is where anesthesia, orthopedics, physical therapy, and neurology come together. Led by specialists, the chronic pain clinic aims to improve your pet’s quality and enjoyment of life. The chronic pain clinic is available to all our patients. Your pet will be examined by our specialists and an individualized pain management program will be developed for long-standing or inadequately treated pain.

Soft tissue surgery

Our surgical team covers the full range of soft tissue surgery – from organs to vessels to skin. Soft tissue surgery includes all thoracic, abdominal, respiratory, ear-nose-throat and other medical procedures. Soft tissue surgery also includes most of the emergency surgeries. For example, gastric torsion, respiratory distress, a swallowed foreign body, open injuries to the thoracic or abdominal cavity, a bleeding internal organ, and more.
